Like Never Before

Following Jesus is a lifetime of commitment and sometimes small increments of progress toward the goal of becoming like Him. This process of sanctification can often seem painfully slow.

In 2017, we embarked on the challenge to make personal commitments to follow Jesus Like Never Before. The point of the commitment was not to measure ourselves by other people's commitment, but to simply make stronger commitments to Jesus measured only by whether we are moving toward the goal. A step toward Christ, not a mile, was the goal.

It works this way: complete the commitment card (Front| Back), making a commitment to make progress this year over what you have done before.

For 2018, we have added a church-wide dimension to our commitment: Sermon Notes. A printable version is here. We also have stable-bound copies available at the church foyer.

We are challenging all church members to not only take notes during the Sunday morning worship services, but to review those notes, especially the Scripture reference, at least one day per week in their private devotional time. Then, on the next Sunday evening service, we will meet to discuss the message and any insight or questions that have been gained through the week.

If you missed the prior Sunday's message, you may follow this link to Messages. We believe that the private study of the proclaimed Word was fundamental to the growth and development of Christians from the beginning of the church. It is a discipline the modern church has largely forgotten, turning the Sunday sermon into something we endure rather than something we treasure.

It is our hope that we will all find greater value in the most basic of commitments, not simply attending church services, but helping us to make this time more valuable as we grow toward Jesus.

And working together...we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain.
